Paris 5ème
The 5th arrondissement is one of the 20 arrondissements that make up the city of Paris and is located on the left bank of the River Seine. It is known as the “Latin quarter” because the first great Parisian University, the Sorbonne, was founded here and its original students spoke Latin. It was also at the heart of the ancient Gallo-Roman Paris which the district still shows remnants of today. The 5th arrondissement has a number of Universities, schools and colleges and therefore has a significant student presence however due to the price of property here many choose to live in the less expensive, nearby arrondissements such as the 13th.
